In an exciting new update to kick off March in full force, Sony confirms that PlayStation 4 Remote Play will be headed to PCs and Mac with the next update.

For now, the company says that the beta for its next major update is ready to rock testers, arriving as version 3.50, also referred to as "MUSASHI." Those who signed up for the beta will receive an email with instructions on how to download the package, provided they were among the lucky ones to be selected.

Not all fans who sign up for the beta will get selected, but it's worth a try considering what the new system software update has to offer.

Sony confirmed back in November 2015 that it was working on a PS4 Remote Play app that would allow users to stream PS4 games to PCs and Macs, and it's now reiterating its commitment. This option will become available with the final release, however. As for the beta, here's what it brings.

First of all, Sony now wants to make it easier to play socially when you want to enjoy a title with friends, or make yourself appear as offline if you'd rather play by yourself.

The update will also bring notifications to alert players when their friends come online, so it's now easier to get that gaming session started. As previously mentioned, another newly added feature is the option to appear offline when you don't want others to know you're around. You can either set yourself to appear offline when you log in, or at any given time from the Quick Menu or your Profile.

Moreover, the update will also make it easier than ever to set play dates with friends, as Sony included the ability to schedule gameplay sessions.

"When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away," says Sony.

At the same time, all members within a Party can see exactly what the others are playing. This way, you can either decide to join a friend's game, or start a new one altogether.

As mentioned above, Sony also reiterates plans to bring PS4 Remote Play to both the Mac and Windows PCs, but it's worth pointing out that this option is not included in the beta test. The company doesn't note just when exactly it will roll out, but touts that "you can look forward to it soon."

Lastly, the update will allow players to live stream straight to Dailymotion on the PlayStation 4, complete with the option to archive live broadcasts.
