Dell is offering discounts of as high as $200 on the Venue 8 7000 series tablets.

Dell released the Venue 8 7000 Series tablets in January 2015 and at that time the device was the thinnest tablet in the market. The Dell offering includes a number of impressive features and it also received the 2015 CES Innovation Award.

The Venue 8 7000 Series is available in 16 GB and 32 GB models and currently Dell is offering discounts on both versions. Dell normally sells the 16 GB Venue 8 7000 for $399 while the 3 2GB model has a price tag of $449. However, customers who want to purchase the tablet can avail a discount of $200, which means the 16 GB tablet is now available for $199 and the 32 GB version for $249.

Customers can also buy the tablets with a Dell wireless keyboard and protective folio case for $249 (16 GB) or $299 (32 GB), which means a total discount of $239.99.

The Dell tablet has an 8.4-inch OLED Display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600. It has 8-megapixel rear-facing and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.

"The Venue 8 7000 Series is also the first to integrate the Intel RealSense Snapshot Depth Camera, which captures a depth map for every picture taken. Together with the Dell Gallery application, people will have much more flexibility when editing photos with selective filtering and refocus functions to change the brightness separately on a foreground object or background object, or refocus on any part of the picture," says Dell.

The Venue 8 7000 runs on a quad-core Intel Atom Processor Z3580 clocked at 2.3 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The battery of the Dell device lasts for up to 9.5 hours.

The tablet's 16 GB or 3 2GB internal memory may seem very small to tablet fans. However, it has a microSD card slot, which can be used for expanding the memory to up to 512 GB.

The Venue 8 7000 measures 0.24 x 4.88 x 8.50 inches. The tablet weighs 0.67 pounds.

Android 5.0 Lollipop runs the Dell tablet. The Venue 8 7000 also supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Venue 8 7000 users can also use their tablet for big screen entertainment via Dell Cast.

"Dell is the only provider to give Android users a desktop experience with Dell Cast. You can turn any screen into your desktop, and connect with a keyboard and mouse to use your tablet like a PC. With the optional adapter and software app, you can check email or work on documents, and you can stay organized with handy tiles and multiple browser windows," says Dell.

Customers who buy the tablet get one year limited hardware warranty. Dell is also offering accidental damage cover for one, two or three years at a charge of $29, $59 or $89.
