Alcatel fans who hoped that the One Touch Go Play would be the flagship the company touted at the Mobile World Congress have a surprise coming their way.

The newest handset is not a premium-model smartphone, but it does bring other advantages to the table. The IP67-certified mid-tier smartphone packs water resistance, scratch resistance and a general tough build that can make many top-tier phones jealous.

One of the best attributes of the One Touch Go Play is its IP67 certification. This means that you may submerge the device in water that is between 5.9 inches and 3.2 feet in depth and it will come out unscathed.

Those who are enthusiastic about underwater photography can even use the phone to take underwater photos/videos and the phone will be good as new. This is great news for active users who often find themselves at the pool or at the beach and worry about sheltering their smartphone from the environment.

What is more, the device's IP67 certification grants "protection from total dust ingress," meaning sand will not get into the nooks and crannies of the One Touch Go Play.

With the mid-range phone's 8-megapixel camera, you can tap into your multimedia capturing creativity. Features such as HDR, Time Lapse and Panorama are there to assist you, even when you take video footage or photographs underwater.

An additional element that keeps the phone protected from environmental factors is the Dragontrail Glass that covers the 5-inch display.

Alcatel equipped the One Touch Go Play with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor backed by 2 GB RAM. Internal space is 16 GB, which is not formidable compared with rivals.

Due to an embedded View Me app, you can record every on-screen activity. Be it video chatting, game playing or app testing, the phone allows you to have the footage at your disposal afterwards.

Should you be interested in the device, the OEM's online store sells the Go Play smartphone for just $199.99. The price bundles the handset with a bonus ruggedized case that makes the smartphone even sturdier. The cases come in four colors: blue, green, red, or black.
