Samsung lately implemented a nifty tethering feature in its latest Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge flagships.

The two premium devices from Samsung can act as repeaters/extenders to the Wi-Fi signal from a network, which allows other devices to connect to the network via the Galaxy handset.

In standard mode, Android phones can be used as hotspots by using Wi-Fi tethering. This means that you are able to let someone else use your mobile data by letting them connect their gadget to your smartphone.

The novelty that comes with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is that you are now able to share your Wi-Fi connection as well.

What is the simplest example when this can come in handy?

For example, let's say that your Galaxy S7 is connected to a Wi-Fi network and you want to connect multiple other devices to the same network. Should the various devices fail to connect to the Wi-Fi directly, you can now connect them straight to the Galaxy S7's.

Such events usually happen when you forget the password from the network and there is no way to reach someone who can remind it to you. As rare as it happens, it is good to know that there is an alternative solution.

To share your mobile data connection instead of your Wi-Fi one, simply go to Settings > Mobile hotspot and tethering menu > More. Once there, just disable the Wi-Fi Sharing.

It should be mentioned that the feature currently works only on Samsung's latest flagships, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. This information goes directly to Note 5 or Galaxy S6 owners who hoped that the Wi-Fi extender function comes with Android Marshmallow. Galaxy A 2016 owners will also lack the feature.

Should the manufacturer decide to include the functionality in a future Marshmallow update, we will keep you posted.

So far, a number of experts commended the newest flagships from Samsung due to their powerful specs, high-quality optimization and strong features.
