T-Mobile subscribers who own the Windows-based Alcatel Fierce XL should expect an update to the device coming their way soon.

After many, many delays, Microsoft finally considers its latest Windows 10 Mobile operating system worthy enough to roll out to third-party devices. Until this month, only a handful of devices were running on the company's latest OS, such as the Lumia 950, 950 XL and the Fierce XL. Even other Lumias were left out of the loop.

However, now, it lookslike things are looking up when it comes to Microsoft's latest mobile software. Alcatel's Fierce XL on T-Mobile is getting another update to Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.164.

Over at Microsoft's Community pages, the company announced that March would indeed be the month where Windows 10 Mobile would start seeing a greater rollout to more devices. For owners of the Alcatel Fierce XL, the update can be initiated manually by tapping on Settings, then Update & Security into Phone Update and finally, by selecting Check For Updates.

Reports reveal that the latest 10586.164 build is not very much different from the previous 10586.122 build.

According to Microsoft, some of the fixes and improvements to the OS in this current release include:

– Improvements for the reliability of app notifications, including text messages and alarms not ringing as scheduled

– Improvements for text message backup to reduce data and battery usage

– Fixes for Microsoft Edge with address bar suggestions showing late or persisting during navigation, "Close all tabs" not closing all tabs, and Word Flow on the address bar not functioning as expected

The 5.5-inch HD-equipped Fierce XL has been one of the few Windows 10 devices that offers a well-balanced value between features, specs and price. The recent update should offer owners a better experience with the phone, and we assume more updates will be coming soon to other devices as well.

For those of us who are unsure if our phones are Windows 10 Mobile-ready, Microsoft has an app called "Upgrade Advisor." The app allows Windows Phone owners to check and see if their device is upgrade-worthy.

More often than not, most phones will be able to handle the update, with handsets running on Windows 8.1 also getting firmware updates to roll over to Windows 10 Mobile.
