Before Amy Adams became Lois Lane in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, she auditioned for a role as another superhero's main squeeze in Batman Begins.

In a screen test, Adams acted out a scene with Christian Bale's version of Batman, who was decked out in the old batsuit from Batman Forever.

For this bit of footage, Adams took on the role of Rachel Dawes, a part that eventually went to Katie Holmes. Interestingly enough, though, Holmes chose to leave the role, eventually getting replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight.

The screen test of Adams opposite Bale is readily available, so that fans can see what that movie might have been like with Adams in the role.

According to the screen test video, Adams did the audition as a favor, and probably wasn't ever actually in the running for the role of Rachel, but it is ironic that she still went on to become Superman's love interest instead, opposite Henry Cavill. But don't worry, this isn't what Batman and Superman are at war about in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Adams recently spoke to Parade about taking on the role of the iconic reporter and how her relationship works with Clark Kent, aka Superman.

"I think Lois balances Superman," said Adams. "He'd still be as strong without her physically, but emotionally Lois is a superwoman in her own way. It's not always about having strength or speed or powers of invisibility. Physically, no one is Superman's equal — but being equal doesn't mean we have the same strengths."

Adams confirmed that she would also appear in the two-part Justice League movie series, the films that will serve as a follow-up to Batman v Superman, along with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Amber Heard's Mera.

"I love it," said Adams to Entertainment Tonight. "I hope that we all get to work together at some point, because women, sometimes in these films, don't get to actually be on set together at the same time."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters worldwide on March 25.
