The Porsche 718 Boxster made its world debut earlier this month at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and now the car has made its U.S. debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show.

The German sports car maker has announced two new models of the mid-engine roadsters: the 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S.

"In its 718 Boxster, Porsche is deliberately revisiting the concept of the legendary 718 mid-engine sports car. With its lightweight construction, strong four-cylinder flat engine and precise chassis, it won numerous international races in the 1950s and 1960s," says Porsche.

Under the hood of the 718 Boxster is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four boxer engine that produces 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The 718 Boxster S is equipped with a 2.5-liter engine producing 350 horsepower and 309 pound-feet torque.

Both the cars have six-speed manual transmission as standard but customers can opt for the PDK double-clutch automatic transmission.

The 718 Boxster can reach a speed of 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds, which is faster by 0.8 second when compared to its predecessor. The 718 Boxster S is slightly faster and can achieve the same speed in only 4.0 seconds.

The 718 Boxter's top track speed is 275 kilometers (170 miles) per hour and for the 718 Boxster S, it is 285 kilometers (177 miles) per hour.

Along with a new engine, the new Porsche sports cars are also fitted with uprated brakes and upgraded suspension.

"The completely retuned suspension and uprated brakes lay the foundation for exceptional performance and driving pleasure," says Porsche.

Porsche has also redesigned the 718 Boxster and the 718 Boxster S. The front has a muscular appearance and seems wider. A notable design feature of the cars is the restyled Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The air inlet panel on the car is also larger and has two fins, which gives the car a dynamic look. The doors of the cars are also designed without the door handle recess covers. The sports cars also have a new electric wheel that is 10 percent more direct.

The Porsche 718 Boxster as well as the 718 Boxster S will arrive in U.S. dealership this June. The base price of the 718 Boxster is $56,000, while customers have to pay $68,400 for the 718 Boxster S. Interested customers will also have to pay $1,050 as destination charge.
