As soon as news broke of Robin Williams' death, millions of fans looked for ways to pay tribute to the late actor and comedian. One video game developer has now gone above and beyond tribute to effectivelly immortalizing Williams in its game in the form of a genie named Robin.

Unknown to some, Williams was an avid video game player, spending time in Blizzard's World of Warcraft and naming his daughter after princess Zelda from Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series. Blizzard, upon hearing the news of Williams' death and a fan petition to have an in-game tribute for him, tweeted out the following message:

(Photo : WowHead) Taking on the form of a genie, Robin Williams has been immortalized in the upcoming 'World of Warcraft' expansion, 'Warlords of Draenor.'

According to WoWHead, the above genie can be found on an island near Talador in the beta. Finding the "Ever-Burning Lamp" on the island causes the genie named Rob to appear, and who exlaims "Infinite cosmic power!" a line that is almost identical to a quote from William's Genie character from "Aladdin," who says "Phenomenal cosmic power!" The in-game genie then quickly disappears, saying "Itty bitty living space," another iconic line from "Aladdin." A cracked egg spaceship can also be seen nearby, a reference to William's work in "Mork and Mindy."

Players previously data-mined the game to discover a number of files, among them the genie, that pointed towards possible ways Blizzard might honor Williams. New datamines have also discovered a new "Comedian" player title that may revolve around Williams' in-game tribute, as well as possible nods to Williams work on "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Toys."

The campaign to have Williams immortalized in the World of Warcraft began as a fan petition asking for Blizzard to create a William inspired character for the game. The petition gathered close to 11,000 signatures, with Blizzard assuring fans that they would take care of it.

While the genie representing Williams is currently only in the beta, that means when the Warlords of Draenor expansion officially launches later this year on Nov. 13, millions of gamers will be able to pilgrimage to the tribute site and pay their respects.
