The Amazon Kindle Oasis just got leaked, clocking in at a lighter weight compared to the Voyage and coming in with a new design and features.

Right off the bat, it sports relatively narrower bezels and a smaller form factor, weighing in at about 0.28 pounds. To put that figure into perspective, the older Kindle Voyage is 0.39 pounds and the Paperwhite is 0.45 pounds.

Meanwhile, the upcoming e-reader comes with a rechargeable battery case that merges with the slab via magnet. Amazon calls this the dual-battery system on account of the built-in battery coupled with the battery on the case powering the tablet.

With that setup, the Kindle Oasis is said to be capable of lasting up to a whopping 20 months on standby. That's unbelievably amazing, and it should be noted that the e-reader can likely live up to that thanks to the aforementioned battery system and the new Kindle sleep mode on top.

As for the design, it's obviously different from the previous Kindle models. It apparently features a page-turning option similar to the Voyage's but only on one side and an accelerometer to let it automatically adjust the screen orientation when switching between hands. It's still unclear whether those are buttons or pressure-based sensors, though, but at any rate, it's definitely made to be used easily even with only one hand.

Going over the display, it appears that it's set at 300 ppi, but it'll have a better frontlit setup. In the case of its slimness, it's both thinner and thicker than the 0.29 inches of the Voyage, measuring at 0.13 inches for roughly two-thirds of it and 0.33 inches for its bump at the back in line with the buttons or sensors.

Now, the leak comes from Tmall, but it swiftly took down the accidental post. Fortunately, Kindle Fere got ahold of the images before they were removed.

Of course, the safe thing to do here is to take these details with a grain of salt until Amazon makes an official announcement, but according to an earlier report of The Wall Street Journal, the leak has a couple of nuggets of truth to them.

The only thing that's sure so far is that a next-generation Kindle will be unveiled soon enough, as this news comes hot on the heels of the teaser that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos posted on Twitter last week. No price or availability has been revealed yet, though.

Assuming that these details are true, leave a comment below and tell us whether or not you think the Kindle Oasis is worth trading your Voyage or Paperwhite for.
