Asus rolls out the VivoBook E403SA in a bid to bring more decently powered and affordable laptops in the market.

Before getting into the nitty-gritty details, those who are looking for a new notebook should know that this isn't for heavy usage. Based on the specs, it looks like it's targeted at students or workers who only need productivity software and casual to medium browsing, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't have any head-turning features, though.

Hardware Specifications

Under the hood, it has an Intel Pentium Quad Core N3700 clocked at 1.6 GHz and a Turbo frequency at 2.4 GHz along with 4 GB worth of RAM.

Storage-wise, it houses a 128 GB SSD, allowing it to shorten boot times and load applications a whole deal faster. As for the screen, it's an FHD display that measures at 14 inches.

According to Asus, the laptop can last up to 14 hours on a single charge, making it the perfect companion for the user on the go, not to mention that it's 0.7 inches thick and only weighs 3.3 pounds.

Meanwhile, it's definitely a future-ready notebook thanks to the USB Type-C port that comes with. A quick word on the design: It sports what the manufacturer calls hairline brushed metal.

Out of the box, it runs on Windows 10. No surprise there, of course.

Price And Availability

Needless to say, it's available at the official Asus website, but it's also up on Amazon already. Regarding the price, it'll only hold back customers by $399.

The Bottom Line

To boil things down, the VivoBook E403SA is a respectable laptop that's pretty light on the budget, as the 128 GB SSD, FHD display, USB Type-C port and ultra-thin design make it one heck of an affordable notebook with the modern bells and whistles. Also, cheap laptops usually only have HDDs inside, so in contrast, this definitely has an edge.

Unfortunately, those points aren't enough to attract power users, though. However, for those who are in search for an overall smooth experience plus portability, perhaps an ultrabook would be a better fit, particularly the Dell XPS 13 or the Surface Book, the thin notebook on steroids.
