Mission Cables has announced the Battery Base for Amazon Echo, which makes the device portable.

Amazon Echo is a wireless speaker and home command device from Amazon. The Echo is capable of voice interaction, setting alarms, playing audiobooks, music playback and more.

"Amazon Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather and more - instantly. All you have to do is ask," says Amazon.

Customers can pick "Alexa," "Amazon" or "Echo" as the wake words to use Amazon Echo. The company claims that the wireless speaker is fine-tuned for delivering crisp sounds with dynamic bass response. The dual downward-firing speakers produce 360 degrees of omni-directional audio that fills a room with great sound quality.

Amazon Echo customers can use the Alexa app for iOS, Android and Amazon Fire devices for connecting to services such as Spotify, Google Calendar and Pandora. Setting it up is very simple; however, it has to be tethered to a power outlet all the time, which means owners can only use the speaker where a power source is available.

Mission Cables is assisting customers who want to take their Amazon Echo outdoors and in places where a power outlet may not be available. The company designed and manufactured Battery Base to enable Amazon Echo owners to use the speaker without it having to be plugged to a power outlet.

"Battery Base opens up a whole new set of use scenarios for Echo. Whether it is using Echo in the garage or garden, at the pool or on the patio, we think Echo enthusiasts will appreciate the ability to untether Echo from the wall and take it anywhere," says Brian Wengreen, president of Mission Cables.

A single charge will allow owners to get up to 6 hours of audio playback from the Echo. Battery Base is easy to set up and customers can conveniently slide their Echo into the Battery Base. Recharging can be done with the power adaptor of the Amazon Echo.

The Battery Base includes LED indicators that show the charging and battery status. It also has an on and off button that maximizes battery life. The inner material of the Battery Base is made of silicon, which offers a secure grip for the Echo.

Battery Base is available from Amazon at a price tag of $49.99.
