Samsung India has devised a novel way of getting users of its Android-powered mobile devices in the country to update to the latest available software version — Domino's pizza coupons!
That's right! Samsung is offering users in India Domino's pizza coupons as an incentive so that they update their smartphone or tablet to the latest Android software version.
Pizza-loving Indians will be able to get 20 percent off on any breads or pizzas ordered at Domino's thanks to this marketing offer.
"Get Flat 20% off on Pizzas & Breads at Domino's on updating your phone software at your nearest Samsung exclusive store or through Wi-Fi," notes the Samsung offer.
The promotion from Samsung is likely in a bid to encourage people in developing markets to update their devices by incentivizing them.
The Samsung offer was first spotted by an eagle-eyed user of the Galaxy J7 smartphone in India on May 28. The user AndroGo101 shared a screenshot of the Samsung promotion on Reddit.
"Nice incentive by Samsung to make the technologically ignorant people update their phone's more often....," he noted.
The offer was discovered in the My Galaxy app and is tied to a phone number. It is not known if Samsung is testing out the Domino's pizza coupon offer as an incentive for updating devices and will soon push it out to other countries too.
The terms and conditions of the Samsung India offer state that smartphones that already have the latest software for the specific device are ineligible for the promotion. Only a single phone number can avail the Domino's offer if the handset is updated to the latest software version. Lastly, the caveat states that the offer is available on an "as is" basis.
To avail the offer and get the discount coupon of 20 percent from Domino's in India, go to Settings > General Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update Now. If your Samsung smartphone is eligible and you meet the necessary requirements as detailed in the terms and conditions, you get the 20 percent off coupon within nine days of updating. The offer coupon will be visible in the My Galaxy app section.
