Valve has released a massive update for Counter Strike: Global Offensive, one of the most watched games last year for video game streaming service Twitch, which contains a variety of additions and improvements to the first-person shooter.

Among the things included in the update is the Gamma Case, which features designs made by the game's community and knives featuring Gamma finishes, improvements to the Prime Account Matchmaking beta and a one-month extension to Operation Wildfire.

The update also added several new sounds to Counter Strike: Global Offensive. According to Valve, the new sounds look to improve the overall quality of the game's audio while addressing issues on ear fatigue and distortion. However, one new sound has been the subject of controversy among players.

With the update, a low-ammo sound has been added to every gun in the game. When a player's clip is almost empty, there is a ticking noise that can be heard on each of the shots fired from the gun. The major problem that players have with this is that the sound can be heard not just by the player, but also by the player's teammates and even his enemies.

A thread on Reddit has been created to discuss the new sound, and players are saying similar sentiments that its addition is completely unnecessary.

According to the thread's opening post, there is a skill involved in keeping count of the bullets that enemies have fired, and while there will be some skillful plays that can be made with the addition of the low-ammo sounds, they ultimately lower the skill ceiling of the shooter instead of making Counter Strike more skill-based.

Players are questioning how such an unnecessary update, with the low-ammo sound even louder than the bullet sound, could make its way into the game. With the addition of the sound lowering skill level, Redditors are teasing that perhaps future updates for Counter Strike will add auto-aiming features and tactical visors similar to Overwatch's Soldier: 76 to the shooter.

While it has been proven that the sound can only be heard from up close, whatever the reason for the inclusion of the low-ammo sounds, Valve will have to listen to the early feedback from players and possibly remove the low-ammo sound in the next update.

In addition to the controversial low-ammo sounds, new audio was added to a few Heavy weapons, namely the M249, the Mag7 and the Negev, with more to be added to the rest of the weapons over time. In addition, the sound of the smoke grenades has been reworked to make sure that it could be heard separately from other audio such as defuse sounds.
