Customers looking for a great deal on Apple's 12-inch MacBook need to look no further than the online store of major retailer Best Buy, as the company is offering discounts on the powerful laptop.

At the Best Buy website, there is an ongoing promo for the 12-inch MacBook that applies a $300 discount on certain models of the machine.

In the promo, the 256 GB model of the MacBook is now being sold for $999, compared to its original price of $1,299, while the 512 GB model now carries a price tag of $1,299, compared to the original price of $1,599.

There is an even lower price being offered by Best Buy for the computers, with the 256 GB model being offered for as low as $909.99 and the 512 GB model being offered for as low as $1,143.99. However, these are open box items that look brand new and include all the original parts and accessories. With the lowered price for the brand-new versions of the Macbooks, though, it would be a much better idea to grab those instead.

Not all colors are available under the offer, with the 256 GB model only coming in silver and the 512 GB model only coming in silver, gold and space gray. As such, customers hoping that they could snag a rose gold 12-inch MacBook at a discounted price would be disappointed

Even with the limited models and colors, though, a $300 discount on the latest edition of Apple's 12-inch MacBook is a great deal. On top of the lowered price, Best Buy is offering free shipping for a purchase of any of the laptops.

Customers can take advantage of the offer to be able to give the 12-inch MacBook as a gift for Father's Day or as a present to students who are on their way to their first year in college.

Apple released the 2016 12-inch MacBook back in April, with the laptop powered by a new Skylake-based Intel Core M3 processor and a bigger battery pack that allows the machine to run up to 10 hours on a single charge.

For customers who already own the 2015 version of the 12-inch MacBook, upgrading to this year's edition could also be considered a good buy, with Geekbench benchmarking showing that the 2016 model is capable of running between 5 percent and 18 percent faster compared to the 2015 edition. Another test that was run through BruceX, a benchmark test for Final Cut, showed that the 2016 MacBook is almost 300 percent faster for video editing compared to the 2015 edition.
