The OnePlus 3 rolled out earlier this year, but fans of the brand could only get the commended device in a boring albeit professional color option: Graphite.

One month after it launched in its home country, an additional color variant of the OnePlus 3 is ready to land on the shelves of American stores. The company wrote a blog post to announce that the Soft Gold variant is launching in the U.S. at 12 p.m EST.

What is more, the OEM underlines that the flagship's golden hue will differ from the "gaudy gold" that is commonplace in rival gadgets, meaning the OnePlus 3 will come in a more elegant and aesthetical shade of gold.

Should you want to give it a closer look, head to the official site and compare it with the existing Graphite variant. Both versions have the same $399 price tag.

If you want to feel more special, keep in mind that the U.S. is the first overseas market to receive the new color option. OnePlus fans from Canada, Europe and Hong Kong have to muster patience until Aug. 1.

The company did not detail if it has more markets in mind for the introduction of the Soft Gold model, but we assume others will follow suit as soon as possible.

To add even more value to the OnePlus 3's new color variant, the OEM stated that the device will be available in limited quantities. This means the stocks could be smaller than anticipated and hesitant clients might see the Soft Gold versions run out pretty fast.

A quick reminder of the OnePlus 3's technical specs shows why the device is so popular, especially in the money-for-value category.

The handset packs a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED screen capable of displaying 1080p resolutions and comes protected by Gorilla Glass 4. The processing power relies on a reliable Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC backed by a hefty 6 GB of RAM. A decent to large amount of storage space is available right off the bat, in the form of 64 GB of internal memory.

The phone also holsters a camera combo suitable to mobile photography fans. The main sensor is 16-megapixel with a wide aperture of f/2.0, optical image stabilization and phase detection autofocus, while the selfie-snapper is an 8-megapixel camera also equipped with f/2.0 aperture. Worthy of note is the LTE Cat 6 connectivity support.

Keeping the juice flowing in the smartphone is a 3,000 mAh battery with Dash Charging support. Software-wise, the OnePlus 3 carries Oxygen OS 3.2.2, an OS built on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Despite its almost intimidating specs, the OnePlus 3 does not manage to hold its own in benchmark tests against other flagships. You can read about the comparison between the OnePlus 3 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge in our coverage.

However, the new color option no doubt adds some panache to the device — you can check out the video below to see for yourself.
