Microsoft has pushed out a new update for the Xbox One, which is the first major update for the console after the August Update, which was rolled out in late July along with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

The latest update for the Xbox One brings in its folds a gamut of improvements, including those to the Xbox Guide, the Xbox Universal Store as well as performance and general ones. It also brings bug fixes that address issues users encountered post the August Update's installation.

Microsoft rolled out the current update for the Xbox One on Friday, Aug. 19, and the update brings the console's operating system to version 10.0.14393.1040 (rs1xboxrel_1608.160816-1851) fre.

The new features and enhancements the update brings include the modification to the startup chime.

"You can now modify when you hear the startup chime! You'll find three new options in Settings > Power & startup > Power mode & startup," notes the changelog.

Users will now be able to customize the startup chime. The three options they can choose from are: On, Only with power button or voice and Off. Below is a brief description of each option.

On - The startup chime plays whenever the console is switched on.

Only with power button or voice - The startup chime will play when one turns the console on through voice or the power button. The chime does not play when the Xbox One is powered via the controller.

Off - The startup chime will not play.

The update brings multiple fixes to the Xbox Universal Store that address the crashes. It also resolves the issue that requires Xbox One users to click two times on the buy button. The update fixes the problem where users encountered the "Try again later" error message when a recently purchased content was being downloaded.

Xbox Universal Store users would also face an error when trying to play or buy TV content or movies. This bug has also been fixed. The latest update also addresses the issue that occasionally led time-based trials to reflect wrong remainder time.
