Google's Safe Browsing protects users from accessing shady sites on the internet. Now, the initiative will also help webmasters fight security issues.

On Sept. 6, Google announced the expansion of its Safe Browsing console's Security Issues report. With the help of the report, webmasters will be able to find detailed explanations of a specific security problem.

"The updated information provides more specific explanations of six different security issues detected by Safe Browsing, including malware, deceptive pages, harmful downloads, and uncommon downloads. These explanations give webmasters more context and detail about what Safe Browsing found," says Google.

Apart from detailed reports for webmasters, the Safe Browsing console also makes recommendations to website owners on how to take appropriate action against security issues.

The latest addition to the initiative will not only help site owners address security problems as soon as possible and ward off hackers but will also keep user information safe.

Not all websites encounter security issues, but Google's Safe Browsing team recommends website owners to register their website on Search Console even if webmasters feel that their sites are fully protected and not experiencing any security issues.

Customers who register with the service will get notifications in case of any problem so that steps can be taken to fix the potential flaw. Safe Browsing can also help websites that have been hacked.

"Safe Browsing alerts webmasters if their sites have been hacked and provides information to help clean up the problem. We detail the steps to recover from an infection, and provide webmasters with examples of the specific code that has been injected into their site," says Google.

Google says that with Search Console, it aims to assist webmasters to provide a secure and safe browsing experience to the website's visitors.

Website developers and owners can also give feedback and ask questions about the new features of Google Webmaster Help Forum. Google employees will be assisting users with any issue they are facing with the new features.

Google touts that about 1 billion people take advantage of Google Safe Browsing. The company protects millions of internet users every week from potential issues encountered when opening websites. They are sent warning messages across a number of browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari.

It is likely that the expansion of Google Safe Browsing tools will help more webmasters to get details of issues and how to fix them as soon as possible.
