Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the Titanfall franchise, has teamed up with Nexon and Particle City for Titanfall: Frontline, a digital card game that is coming to mobile devices this fall.

Titanfall: Frontline is a free-to-play game that will be released for the iOS and Android operating system in time for cross-promotion with Titanfall 2, which will launch on Oct. 28 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

According to the mobile game's official website, players will be assuming the role of brigade commanders and battle against each other in real-time combat. Players will be using Titan, Pilot and Burn cards to try to win real-time matches, with hundreds of cards to collect and upgrade to gain better chances of destroying opponents on the battlefield.

In Titanfall: Frontline, players will be able to combine their Pilot and Titan cards to be able to deal extra damage, with Titan cards placed in auto-mode to provide cover while Pilot cards attack. There will be hundreds of combinations available to players, with squads built depending on the style that they want.

Winning matches will allow players to climb the ranks, and upgrades will be important to allow players to keep in step with their also-improving opponents. There will also be a social aspect to Titanfall: Frontline, as players will be allowed to create and join guilds.

Titanfall: Frontline is the first product of a multi-year and multi-game partnership between Respawn, Nexon and Particle City. Respawn has a publishing deal with Electronic Arts for console and PC games but decided to go with Nexon for its mobile games despite Electronic Arts also having a mobile division. Particle City, meanwhile, is a brand-new mobile game developer, with Titanfall: Frontline to be its first game.

"Titanfall: Frontline is unapologetically intense and utterly Titanfall," said Particle City co-founder Larry Pacey, with the title also adding a "never-before-seen layer of strategy" to digital trading card games, according to Nexon general manager Lawrence Koh.

Koh added that the title is just the start of the mobile games that will be released based on the Titanfall universe, so fans of the franchise should definitely be watching for the next games that will be released by the partnership.

On the official website of Titanfall: Frontline, interested gamers can pre-register by entering their email address. Pre-registered players will be able to receive a notification when the title launches, which would ensure that they will receive the launch week rewards of a Prometheus Titan card.

Respawn has unveiled the six playable Titans of Titanfall 2 through the game's website and a new trailer. The Titans, named Scorch, Ion, Legion, Ronin, Tone and Northstar, each offer a unique combination of weapons and abilities.
