So somebody finally launched a burger into space. On the long list of completely pointless human achievements, it is honestly surprising this hasn't been done before. Well, at least the team responsible for wasting this perfectly good burger is claiming it is the first to send a burger into orbit.

The video comes from the puntastitic London-based burger restaurant, Chosen Bun, which cooked up a burger and a side of fries (or as they call them in London, chips) before attaching the food to a large balloon, strapping a Go Pro camera to it and then sending the meal on an adventure in orbit. Why, you ask? No reason, of course. Remember: there will never be a valid reason to send a burger into space.

Check out the video below. Spoiler alert: the fries don't make it back alive.

Ascending turns out to be fairly uneventful and almost serene, as the camera capturing the meal travels skyward through the clouds and into space. It's the return trip that causes trouble. While the burger and fries are strapped to a plastic base in order to prevent them from falling off the rig, the top of the fry container comes off. As the contraption spirals back to Earth, fries fly from the top of the container until there are none left. They were but a necessary casualty in this grand experiment.

The burger, on the other hand, makes it back to Earth in one piece. The Chosen Bun teams finds it after landing, thanks to a GPS transponder attached to the rig. Eating it might not be the best idea, though, as one man in the video remarks that the burger is cold as ice and is hesitant to take a bite. Well, that's what microwaves are for.
