Google is said to be renaming its smartphones from Nexus to Pixel, and various rumors of the upcoming Pixel mobile phones have been surfacing online. New renders of the Pixel and Pixel XL have emerged online and offer a peek into the front panel of the two handsets.

Google's first smartphone, the Nexus One, was made by HTC and speculations are rife that the Taiwanese company is manufacturing the upcoming Pixel phones.

According to German online publication WinFuture.de, the latest leaked renders of the Pixel (Sailfish) and the Pixel XL (Marlin) comes from a Hong Kong based spare parts dealer.

The leaked images showing the front panel of both the devices suggest that Pixel will have 4.99-inch display, while the bigger Pixel XL will tout a 5.46-inch display. The leaked renders reveal that both handsets will have rounded edges.

Both the Google Pixel models are believed to have a two-tone back with a fingerprint scanner underneath the rear camera. If rumors are to be believed, then the Pixel as well as the Pixel XL will be the first smartphones to contain the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.

Previous rumors have indicated that both the Pixel phones will be available with 32 GB or 128 GB on-board storage. The Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X launched in 2015 lacked microSD card, which disappointed many smartphone enthusiasts. This time round, customers will hope that Google will include a microSD card slot in its upcoming phones.

Speculations estimate that the 5.5-inch Pixel XL will include 4 GB of RAM. It is worth noting that some handsets including the OnePlus 3, Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe, ZTE Axon 7 and more are available with 6 GB of RAM. The Pixel XL may be equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

A 3,450 mAh battery may fuel the Pixel XL. USB Type-C support is becoming a standard in most of the new smartphones. Rumors hint that the Pixel and the Pixel XL will also have a USB Type-C port. The smaller Pixel is estimated to have the same specs as the Pixel XL, but it may come with a smaller 2,770 mAh battery.

Both the Pixel and the Pixel XL devices will come running on Google's latest Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box.

The devices are expected to be launched at an unannounced event on Oct. 4. Google has not revealed any details of its upcoming smartphones, which mean customers will have to take all rumors with a pinch of salt.
