OnePlus is rumored to be working on a new flagship smartphone dubbed the OnePlus 3T, which will allegedly be an upgraded version of the OnePlus 3.
While the company has not affirmed that such a smartphone is in the pipeline, the rumor mill is churning out information regularly on the OnePlus 3T's existence ever since the handset was spotted in the wild in October.
We round up the rumors and share with you the features, specs, pricing and alleged release date of the much-awaited Android-powered handset.
Specs And Features
Rumors are rife that the OnePlus 3T will sport a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED screen. However, some reports claim that the handset could boast an LCD screen instead.
OnePlus' cofounder Carl Pei has stated that the company intends to stick to the Optic AMOLED in the near term, and therefore, the claims of the OnePlus 3T sporting an LCD screen may just be a flash in the pan.
Since the OnePlus 3T is said to be the upgraded version of the current flagship OnePlus 3, it will apparently see an improvement in CPU. The handset will allegedly be powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor vis-à-vis the Snapdragon 820 on the OnePlus 3.
The impending handset is also rumored to house a 16-megapixel primary camera, which could have the Sony IMX398 sensor. The OnePlus 3T will offer 6 GB of RAM. The latest buzz is that it will be available in two onboard storage options — 64 GB and 128 GB.
Design-wise, the smartphone is anticipated to have the same sensibilities and an all-metal body as the OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3T is also expected to come preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.
The handset is also said to offer support for USB Type-C and 4G VoLTE. It will also house a 3,000 mAh battery that offers support for Dash Charge. The OnePlus 3T will also benefit from a fingerprint sensor and may be water-resistant.
In late October, we reported that the OnePlus 3T would be retailing for $479, making the enhanced variant of the OnePlus 3 $80 steeper than the original. The source of this information was none other than the reliable leakster Evan Blass, who goes by the Twitter handle @evleaks.
The higher pricing for the OnePlus 3T could be attributed to its enhanced specs. The OnePlus 3T is expected to be available in a new Black color option.
OnePlus is also said to be working on the OnePlus 4, which is anticipated to launch in mid-2017. Therefore, it would make business sense for the company to launch another handset in the interim.
According to the latest rumors, the OnePlus 3T could launch on Nov. 14.
