We are hearing rumors from reputable sources that Warner Bros. and DC are making plans to release the first teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before the end of the year. We can't be certain if this is true because the film is, from our count, 17 months away.

For a film that is so far away from being released, we have to wonder what would force Warner Bros. hands to release a teaser trailer before the end of 2014, or even in the early parts of 2015 for that matter. Nonetheless, this is the report we're seeing, and we know that anything is possible in the movie industry.

The Batman fansite, Batman on Film, reported that the new teaser trailer will piggyback on a Warner film. So far, the biggest Warner-based film to come out this year is The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies, so if this is the plan, it would make sense to show the trailer before, during or after the film.

The Hobbit is huge, and it draws in a lot of viewers, so this plan could work out in spades for Warner Bros. and DC, if it is true.

The fansite went on to state that its source is claiming the teaser trailer will be Batman heavy. Now, the film is called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so why should the first trailer be overwhelmed with Batman?

If folks take a look back at the production set leaks we've seen in the past couple of months, it should be clear that most things are Batman heavy. This means that it is possible Zack Snyder is shooting most of the Batman stuff first, which could be the reason why the first trailer will be more of the Dark Knight rather than anyone else.

Furthermore, Batman is DC's most successful comic book hero on film, so pushing him front and center might be the best way to draw attention in the early stages. Superman is just a pop culture icon at this point and not powerful enough by himself to allow fans to lose their collective minds.

That's just our wild assumption about the whole thing.

Still, despite what the source is saying, we hope the trailer has enough Superman because we've seen too much of Batman over the past 10 years.
