Marvel has announced its Phase 3 movie releases, and not to our surprise, the studio made it clear that a Black Panther standalone film will be released on November 3, 2017.

That's three years away by our count, but that doesn't mean it is going to take three years for fans to see Black Panther on the big screen for the first time. We've come to understand that Black Panther will make an appearance in Captain America: Civil War, a move that could completely undermine Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

For those who are unaware, the person to play Black Panther is actor Chadwick Boseman.

We should bear in mind that Black Panther will be Marvel's first film to be starred by a black character. It's all about diversity with this film, and this could be the movie to show that Marvel's cinematic world is not one sided.

Speaking of diversity, Marvel is also planning to release a Captain Marvel film in the coming years, and guess what? It will have a female lead.

Marvel isn't the only studio making plans for diversity with its films. Not too long ago Warner Bros. released the DC slate that spans from 2016 to 2020. The slate consists of several important films to get the Detective Comics Cinematic Universe off to a great start.

Two of the biggest and most important films on the list includes Wonder Woman and Cyborg. Now, a standalone film that focuses a lot on the Cyborg character is a big surprise, since he doesn't even have his own comic-book line. It is clear that DC is making this move for the sake of diversity, and only time will tell if it will work out in spades.

Who is Black Panther?

Great question, because not everyone who are invested in the Marvel universe are well versed with the character. You see, Black Panther's real name is T'Challa, leader of Wakanda in Africa. He adopts the name Luke Charles in America, as he romances Monica Lynne, a not so popular singer in the states.

At first, he views groups such as the Fantastic Four and Avengers as threats, but later becoming their allies in great time of need.
