Game developer Nintendo's second game for mobile devices after Super Mario Run, the Fire Emblem: Heroes was released throughout the world on Feb. 2, 2017, and was downloaded more than 2 million times on the first day.

If you, like many others, are already playing and enjoying the latest mobile game from Nintendo then you may be in for a treat as frequent updates adding new content would be released regularly for the game.

Nintendo intends to launch regular updates for the game so that players stay engaged for a long time. In a recent interview to IGN, the game's director, Kouhei Maeda confirmed the news.

"We plan to add new stories continually after release, at a pace of about two a month or one every two weeks. We also plan to add things like new characters and skills, as well as new game modes that go in different directions from the current gameplay," stated Maeda.

Nintendo seems to have learnt that updates and new content would help to retain the player base that the game has. In its earlier release,  Super Mario Run, Nintendo had mentioned about providing support to its players after the game's launch. Although, Super Mario Run went on to become a success, the company seems to have learnt its lesson regarding regular updates.

Gameplay Of Fire Emblem: Heroes

The game is designed to be a 2D turn-based RPG where players summon heroes from the Fire Emblem universe and form teams with varying skill sets to start an adventure.

The combat in the game requires a lot of strategy as every member of the team has some strengths and weaknesses, which have to be considered before making a move in battle. Essentially, the game is more enjoyable for the players looking for challenging gameplay involving lots of planning and strategizing than for players looking for fast paced combat.

The game also features "Orbs" which is the in-game currency and these "Orbs" can be utilized to purchase new heroes. These "Orbs" can be obtained after completing missions or they can be bought in-game with in-app purchases.

Game Coming To Nintendo Switch And 3DS?

Maeda also did not rule out 3DS and Nintendo Switch versions of Fire Emblem: Heroes in the future but did not confirm them either.

Fire Emblem: Heroes is free and one can play it on Android and iOS platforms. With the upcoming updates, players will have new content soon.
