Japanese mobile manufacturer Kyocera just released a feature mobile phone that's so tough it passed the 18 categories of Military Standard 810G durability testing by the U.S. Department of Defense.
Japanese manufacturer Kyocera launches the rugged and durable, multi-functional feature phone that's not lacking in valuable features for both everyday life and outdoor adventures. The Torque X01 is waterproof and dustproof and perfect for outdoor adventures. It features liquid crystal display for clear and easy viewing, a 13-megapixel camera with HD video recording, and dual front-facing speakers.
The ultra-tough feature phone runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.1 GHz quad-core processor, is Wi-Fi capable, and is expandable to up to 32 GB. As of February 2017, the mobile phone is only available in Japan for service provider KDDI Corporation.
High Reliability And Durability
Apart from being waterproof and dustproof, the Torque X01 has also passed Kyocera's drop test from 1.8 meters at 26 different angles. Its durability testing that passed the 18 categories of Military Standard durability testing set by the U.S. Military includes freeze-thaw resistance, humidity resistance, temperature durability, and low-pressure compatibility to name a few.
Outdoor Activity
The Torque X01 is furnished with a set of sensor-based apps that is useful for outdoor activities. These apps include a compass, tide measure, fish activity level, and a barometer. The mobile phone also features a built-in pedometer for activity tracking.
Ease Of Usage
Apart from the liquid crystal display that allows for easy viewing even in direct sunlight, the Torque X01 is also capable of automatic brightness adjustment for better visibility. Further, the phone's large embossed buttons allows for easy usage even when the user is wearing gloves. It is also equipped with a 100 decibel speaker volume, which allows users to clearly hear even with loud noise or even strong winds around.
Outdoor Safety
Since the phone is more targeted for individuals who engage in outdoor activities, the phone can be set to signal the user whenever he or she enters or leaves locations with 4G or LTE service. What's more, the phone is capable of producing a loud "buzzer" sound for emergencies, a "whistle" to relay your location to your companions, and a "bear bell" to provide continuous notifications on the user's presence and location.
