Vizio has new E-Series TVs in tow, offering 4K high dynamic range on the cheap starting at just $550.

To be fair, even the more expensive HDR-enabled TVs in Vizio's lineup were not that high-priced to begin with, at least when compared to similar offerings from other brands. The new 2017 E-Series refresh, however, brings some truly affordable options for those shopping on a budget.

Cheap 4K HDR TV At $550 With 2017 Vizio E-Series

The main focus of the 2017 Vizio E-Series line is to make HDR mainstream, accessible to more people. With that in mind, all E-Series models with a screen size of 55 inches or larger now boast HDR.

The cheapest model with 4K and HDR is 55 inches and costs $550, with prices going up depending on size and model. At $550, this model won't deliver the best HDR compatibility or exquisite video quality (no quantum dot technology or Dolby Vision HDR), but getting both 4K and HDR at that price point is still quite an attractive option.

Vizio E-Series XXL Sizes (And Prices)

The 2017 Vizio E-Series also includes XXL models with screen sizes of 75 and 80 inches, but these giants get pricier. The 75-inch TV is somewhat reasonable at $2,000 considering its size, but the 80-inch one goes all the way up to an eye-watering $3,400.

The new Vizio E-Series TVs come with Chromecast support, complete with Google Home integration for those who own the smart speaker as well. On the downside, the new E-Series line doesn't offer a bundled tablet remote so users will gave to make do with the smartphone or tablet they already have.

"All 2017 E-Series models feature Chromecast built-in, the easiest way to stream the apps you know and love, and the new 75" and 80" class size XXL 4K HDR big screens also boast picture quality technologies like High Dynamic Range with HDR10 content support," says Vizio.

It's also worth pointing out that all new E-Series models come with local dimming, but the number of zones depends on the size of the screen. The 75-inch XXL model has 14 zones, for instance, while the largest model with an 80-inch screen has 16 local dimming zones.

4K HDR On A Budget

Bottom line, the new E-Series won't check every spec on the list, but the TVs nonetheless deliver a good 4K picture at a budget price point (at least for the smaller sizes).

The 75- and 80-inch Vizio E-Series XXL TVs are available for purchase already, but the other models should go on sale momentarily. The company says that the whole collection will be available at Vizio.com, as well as major U.S. retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, and Sam's Club.

That said, hopefully the new Vizio TVs won't spy on users and track their behavior like previous models did, forcing Vizio to pay a $2.2 million fine to settle with the Federal Trade Commission last month.
