Marvel vs Capcom fans, expect to play Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite by Sept. 19, the company says.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is the next entry in the popular crossover fighting series, set to launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but besides confirming the game's release date, Capcom has also unveiled a lot more details about the forthcoming title.

New Fighters

New characters are coming to the game's roster of fighters, and Capcom has confirmed those fighters to be Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, and Strider from Strider. On the Marvel side of things, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Rocket Racoon will join the roster. Ultron will also be a playable fighter for the first time.

These new characters will join the fighters first announced during last year's PlayStation Experience. They are Captain America, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Mega Man X, Morrigan, and Ryu.

Story Mode

The game sees heroes from the two franchises combating together to take on Ultron Sigma, a villain made up of "the most menacing mechanoids from the Marvel and Capcom universes."

As seen in the trailer, Ultron Sigma is a force to be reckoned with. A horde of heroes from both Capcom and Marvel universes try to tackle the game's formidable villain but seemingly to no avail. Capcom says players will get to know him further in the game's cinematic Story mode.

Per usual, all biological life must be extinguished to make way for a new universe. So unravels Ultron Sigma's plot, who then enters a menacing monologue about time, space, the mind, soul, and reality. It appears these vague terms Ultron Sigma spews in the trailer allude to the different Infinity Stones.

How To Preorder 'Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite'

Capcom says that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is now available for preorder, with several editions available. Both the Deluxe and Collector's editions come with a 2017 Character Pass. That will give players six additional characters post-launch, the first of which is Sigma.

The Standard Edition will cost $59.99 and comes with Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu Premium Costumes if you preorder. The Deluxe Edition will cost $89.99, and the Collector's Edition will cost $199.99. Capcom advises everyone who's interested in buying the Collector's Edition to make plenty of room on their desk, since it will come with sweet gear: interlinking dioramas from TriForce, plus LED-powered Infinity Stones enclosed in a case.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is the sixth main entry in the Marvel vs Capcom series and is one of the most anticipated games of 2017. Similar to the preceding games, players control characters from both universes to compete in tag team battles. It was announced back in December. This time, the latest entry will focus on more meaty storytelling, as you may have already guessed based on the cinematic story mode.

Again, the game launches Sept. 19 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
