Ahead of schedule, the OnePlus 5's price in Finland and other parts in Europe may have already been confirmed by way of a contest.

If the speculations are correct, then it could be set at €550, and in turn, that could mean the flagship killer will hold U.S. customers back by $550.

OnePlus 5 Price And The Music Festival

Provinssi 2017 is a music festival in Finland, and the organizers behind the event is holding a contest where the grand prize is two three-day VIP tickets and — drumroll, please — a OnePlus 5.

According to the rules (PDF/translated), the total value of the prize is €948. Meanwhile, a user on the OnePlus forums says the price of each VIP pass is €199.

To do the math real quick, 948 minus 199 and another 199 equals to 550. In other words, the OnePlus 5's price could be set at €550, which should translate to more than $500 in the U.S. market. However, take note that's not taking into account any accessories in the mix.

OnePlus 5 To Cost $550?

The OnePlus 3T retails for $439, and the Finnish website lists down the device at €439 as well. To put two and two together, the €550 OnePlus 5 could cost $550 too.

If this turns out to be the case, then it's $100 more expensive than initially expected, and it essentially debunks an earlier leak that the flagship killer will have a $450 price tag.

OnePlus 5 Release Date And Other Confirmed Details

As a quick refresher, the OnePlus 5 is scheduled to be officially revealed on June 20. It has also been announced to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 under the hood, an excellent camera that's designed in collaboration with DxO, and come in four colors, one of which is referred to as "unicorn."

More than that, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said it's going to be the slimmest flagship yet, though he didn't clear up whether it's going to simply be the thinnest OnePlus to date or the thinnest among the competition, such as the Samsung Galaxy S8, iPhone 7, and others.

Interestingly enough, a lot of rumors and leaks point to dual cameras, but that's not set in stone. They continue to say it'll have 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, a 3,600 mAh or 4,000 mAh battery, and a 5.5-inch QHD display (1,440 x 2,560).

The Bottom Line

To boil things down, the OnePlus 5 could cost €550 in Europe — or in Finland, at least — and $550 in the United States, but to be clear, that's just mere speculation at this point. However, if the manufacturer does go with that price, then it strays a bit from what it's known for: low-cost smartphones with flagship-level components.

At any rate, the flagship killer's official launch is only a couple of days away, and everyone will finally find out the price, specs, and all the rest of the juicy details.
