The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has been leaking extensively and a new report confirms dual cameras, as well as an 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of this year and it's expected to share some features of the current Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagships, but take things up a notch.

Traditionally, the Galaxy Note devices have been slightly higher end compared to the Galaxy S flagships launched earlier in the year. Samsung typically releases its Galaxy S flagships in the first months of the year, and its Galaxy Note flagship in the second half of the year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Rumors

With the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus already out and about, the rumor mill is now turning its attention toward the upcoming Galaxy Note 8, which is expected to boast top-notch specs, including highlights initially rumored for the Galaxy S8.

For instance, the Galaxy S8 was rumored at one point to feature a dual rear camera setup, but it later came to light that Samsung ditched such plans and the Galaxy S8 ultimately launched with a single rear camera. While it touts "dual pixel" technology, it's still a single-lens camera.

Recent rumors have indicated that the Galaxy Note 8 will be the first Samsung smartphone to finally boast dual rear cameras, and a new report from South Korean outlet Newsis now bolsters (translated) such claims.

Galaxy Note 8 Display Size And Aspect Ratio

The report also notes that the Galaxy Note 8 will borrow design cues from the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and retain the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio for the display. Newsis further adds that the Galaxy Note 8 will have a similar display size to the Galaxy S8 Plus. More specifically, it will reportedly be 0.1-inch larger than the Galaxy S8 Plus, which means 0.6-inch larger than the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 from last year.

The publication notes that Samsung is in the final stages of the Galaxy Note 8 design, but it still has a couple of things to decide. That includes the fingerprint sensor location.

Galaxy Note 8 Fingerprint Authentication

Before the Galaxy S8 series became official, rumors indicated that the smartphones would boast in-display fingerprint authentication in order to ditch the physical home button. It later came to light that Samsung and Synaptics ran out of time with the implementation and could not embed the fingerprint scanner into the display in time for the smartphone's launch, so Samsung ultimately had to abandon this plan.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 launched with no physical home button, but the company located the fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device, right next to the camera. This design drew some criticism because it's uncomfortable, but Samsung is expected to make amends with the Galaxy Note 8.

By the time the Galaxy Note 8 is ready to debut in the second half of this year, Samsung and Synaptics could have enough time to implement in-display fingerprint authentication. Being part of the Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy Note 8 will also rock an S Pen stylus that's expected to sport notable improvements.

With no official confirmation so far, however, take all leaks and reports with a dose of skepticism.
