The next flagship smartphones of Sony, which will be unveiled at this year's Mobile World Congress, have been leaked a few days before the event starts in Barcelona, Spain.

The smartphones will be the highlights of Sony's presence at MWC 2018, as revealed by one of the reliable sources of leaks in the tech industry.

Say Hello To The Sony Xperia XZ2 And XZ2 Compact

A few days ago, the next Sony flagship smartphones were teased through a cryptic 23-second video clip. The hashtag #SonyMWC and the release of the video through the Twitter account of Sony Xperia, however, hinted that we will see new Sony Xperia devices at MWC 2018.

It now appears that this speculation is spot on. Notorious leaker Evan Blass revealed the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact, Sony's next flagship smartphones that will bring the company's smartphone division into the nearly bezel-less era.

According to a source familiar with the devices, as reported by Blass, the 5.7-inch Xperia XZ2 and the smaller 5.0-inch Xperia XZ2 Compact will mostly have the same features, save for a few differences.

Both smartphones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which is the same chip that will be found in some models of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus.

The Xperia XZ2 will offer the largest screen-to-body ratio among all Xperia devices, with color options of black, silver, pink, and green, The Xperia XZ2 will have a glossy finish while the Xperia XZ2 Compact will have a non-scratch polycarbonate finish. Both models, however, will have Corning's Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.

For both models, the camera will be the same 19 MP, f/1.8 setup found in the Xperia XZ Premium, though the component layout is a bit different on the Xperia XZ2 Compact. The fingerprint scanner in both models will be placed at back, no longer on the power button.

The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact will both have "S Force" stereo speakers in the front. The Xperia XZ2 will also offer a haptic feedback system that vibrates in tune with music, which may be what the teaser video released by Sony is referring to.

The Xperia XZ2 will have a 3,180 mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities, while the Xperia XZ2 Compact will have a 2,870 mAh battery with only wired charging.

No price and release date have been revealed for the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. These details will be revealed at MWC 2018.

What Else Will Be At MWC 2018?

In addition to Sony's Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, smartphones expected to be part of MWC 2018 include the 2018 editions of the LG K8 and LG K10, and Motorola's Moto G6, Moto Z3, and Moto X5.

Most of the attention, however, will be on Samsung's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. Samsung will apparently use augmented reality to showcase its upcoming flagship smartphones at MWC 2018.
