Fans of Oreo cookies can now indulge in new flavors after the #MyOreoCreation contest has chosen three finalists. The three variants are available in stores until supplies last.

The new variants are Cherry Cola O flavored Oreo cookies, Kettle Corn flavored Oreo cookies, and Piña Colada flavored Oreo Thins cookies. Hundreds of thousands of fans across the United States have submitted their entry flavors for the contest that began in May 2017.

Contest Mechanics

The representatives of the brand have reviewed each submission in real-time and subsequently developed cookie prototypes for each eligible entries. Among the shortlisted flavors were Coffee and Donuts, Avocado, and Unicorn.

The submission of entries ran until July 14, 2017, and the judges determined the finalists from July 15 to Aug. 15, 2017.

"We were blown away by not only the volume of flavor ideas we received as part of our #MyOreoCreation Contest but also by the creativity and imagination of our fans," said Pam Clarkson, associate director North American OREO Equity.

"The response to the contest underscored fan passion around OREO flavor innovation and we're thrilled with our three newest, limited-edition OREO cookie flavors — we can't wait for people to try them and let us know which they think should be the winning flavor!"

The company is giving away fun prizes just for voting. It offers 62 grand prizes of movie prize packs, which include a projector, a portable screen, blanket, and $30 FandangoNow promotional code — with an approximate retail value of $325 each. First prize winners, on the other hand, will have $6 FandangoNow promotional code.

The #MyOreoCreation flavored cookie finalists are Robert D. from Westfield, Massachusetts (Kettle Corn), Eden F. from Winnetka, California (Cherry Cola), and David M. from Bellmawr, New Jersey (Piña Colada).

Fans can vote from April 30 to June 30 on www.MyOreCreation.com or by texting VOTE to 59526 for the voting mechanics. Ultimately, the creator of the winning entry, who will win $500,000, will be announced on July 7, 2018.

Fans' Mixed Reactions

Fans have mixed views on Oreo's new flavors. Some are thrilled with Piña Colada's tropical flavor while others think the Kettle Corn lacks taste.

"If nothing had a flavor, it would be this. Sorry, Kettle Corn. You lose," said Jackie B with Twitter handle name @DeathByTsundoku.

"Somebody is winning an award this year at the International Cookie Awards Ceremony - I just experienced an Oreo Cookie with a 7/11 cherry cola slurpee and pop rocks candy all in one bite," tweeted Paul Wyman with handle name @paulwyman8.

This is not the first time Mondelēz International, the company behind the Oreo brand, held a creativity competition. On Nov. 30, 2017, the company awarded $50,000 to a participant for successfully guessing the mysterious Oreo flavor that is the Fruity Pebbles Cereal. Five others won $10,000 each for the first prize category.
