Fortnite Players Keep Taking Their Complaints To 'Epic Loot Games' Instead Of Epic Games

Close

Frantic Fortnite players are taking out their complaints on the wrong company, as they have been calling a shop in Ohio instead of the developers.

In their defense, the hobby shop's name, Epic Loot Games, is close to Epic Games, the game developer behind the wildly popular title.

Confused Kids Calling A Hobby Shop Instead Of Epic Games

Fortnite's massive popularity is bound to result in a number of unsatisfied players, who then look for a way to contact the developers to relay their complaints. Unfortunately for Hunter Davies, the assistant manager at Epic Loot Games, these unsatisfied kids started calling the store by mistake instead of contacting Epic Games through its website.

"There are so many calls-pranks, angry gamers, kids who don't understand why the support doesn't have a readily available method of contact," Davies told Kotaku. "We started telling them to use the website because they can't actually talk to anyone on the phone."

He recounted some rude calls, including one with a kid between the age of 9 and 16 throwing expletives at him before hanging up. Even during such instances, the store's shop tries to be professional at all times and even tries to help confused kids. He did admit, though, that it gets hard to stay when the person on the other end of the line does not understand that Epic Loot Games is not Epic Games.

Epic Games Does Not Have A Live Phone Support

The culprit might be Google as it directs Fortnite players, who are looking for the number of Epic Games, to call Epic Loot Games. The game developer does not have a live phone support at the moment, but it can be contacted through the website.

According to a Fortnite customer service representative, they only correspond with players through e-mail, which is not even personalized sometimes. They respond to tickets with macros, premade response fragments for common issues, such as a locked account.

They do, however, also have problems when dealing with the younger crowd. According to representative Randi, this age group is not that understanding, which requires them to personalize their responses.

On the contrary, the small hobby shop has a number readily listed on Google. Those looking for an outlet might not have the clear head to differentiate a shop from a development corporation, hence the mix-up.

In spite of all these issues, though, Epic Loot Games is not changing its name. The shop has now expanded to two new locations, and employees are too proud of the name that changing it is out of the question.
