Apple will launch several new color options for this year's upcoming iPhone models, according to a report by famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Information on the new iPhone colors comes alongside Kuo's higher predictions for sales of the 2018 iPhone models, as high demand is expected for all three of them.

New iPhone Colors 2018

According to Kuo, this year's new iPhones will launch with a variety of new colors. Specifically, the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will come in black, white, and a new gold option, while the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will launch with gray, white, orange, blue, and red options.

With the gray and white options for the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, Kuo may be referring to the Space Gray and Silver finishes currently offered for the iPhone X. Apple has also released Product (RED) variants of iPhones, but the recent wave only included the iPhone 8 and IPhone 8 Plus, not the iPhone X. A blue iPhone has been launched before, but that was different as it was the budget-friendly iPhone 5C in 2013. This will also be the very first time that Apple will release an orange iPhone.

The new gold option for the higher-end iPhone models is also an intriguing tidbit. There was supposed to be a gold iPhone X, according to an FCC filing from September 2017, but it never happened. It looks like Apple will finally bring back the gold iPhone with the upcoming premium models.

It is also likely that the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will carry the same three color options as the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone.

High Demand For 2018 iPhone Models

Kuo, in addition to revealing the color options for the upcoming iPhones, said that he is also increasing his prediction for iPhone sales. The analyst expects the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone to make up 55 percent of sales upon the launch of the new models, and take an even higher share next year.

Kuo expects a burst of demand for the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED iPhones at launch from early adopters of the device. However, the general market will be attracted toward the cheaper 6.1-inch LCD iPhone.

In total, Kuo believes that Apple will sell up to 70 million units of the new iPhone models in the fourth quarter, representing significant growth compared to the same quarter last year.

2018 iPhone Models: What We Know

Apple is expected to introduce the three new iPhone models in September. The 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will be an upgraded iPhone X, the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will function as the iPhone X Plus, and the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be a budget iPhone X.

Apple created an LCD iPhone instead of using OLED on all models because of customer demand to bring down the price of the devices. In addition to using the cheaper LCD, the $700 smartphone will be missing certain features such as the stainless steel frame, a dual camera, and possibly also 3D Touch.
