The year 2014 is almost over and people have been anticipating for better things to come in the upcoming new year. With the CES event about to take place in January, smartphones enthusiasts couldn't help but wonder just how many of the best devices would be launched in 2015.

Smartphones have evolved at a pace that's definitely faster for one to keep up with. What can be the trendiest device today could quickly be toppled over in a matter of days by another model. For those who only want to have the best, it would be wise to resist the holiday deals as the upcoming year is bound to see a number of the best smartphones to hit the market.

Google Project Ara

Project Ara is a Lego-like smartphone that allows users to set up a smartphone based on modular components they want to mix and match. If the user only wanted to spend most of his budget on the camera, he can choose to have it upgraded without changing the other parts. The device also features different textured options which the users can print off themselves in 3D format at their homes.

Apple's iPhone 6S

Sometimes referred to as iPhone 7, the iPhone 6S is rumored to launch in September 2015. It will be running on iOS 9, a faster processor, some enhanced specs, but possibly minor design changes. Apple is said to have three variations of its next flagship namely the "regular" version, the "Plus" model and the "Mini."

HTC One M9

HTC is set to release a new device in 2015 which shall be called HTC One M9 or HTC Hima. The upcoming model is supposed to feature a nice upgrade over its older sibling. According to rumors, the One M9 will sport a 5-inch 1080p LCD and a sealed-in 2840mAh battery that offers an improved battery life. Other features include a RAM of 3GB, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, internal storage of 32GB and a 20.7MP camera.

Xperia Z4

The Xperia Z4 is Sony's next flagship which is said to have an improved processor and camera compared to its predecessor. It's also rumored to have a Quad HD display and the latest Android Lollipop.

Nexus 6 2015

A new Nexus 6 is said to be released in October 2015 which will most likely run Android M. The sale date would come a month after the release. Compared to its older siblings, the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 which had flagship specs yet mid-range prices, expect the new Nexus 6 to sport a hefty price tag.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6

The Galaxy Note 5 is set to be a commercial success and a strong competition to Apple's iPhone 6S. According to Samsung, it will sport a 4K display which would be supported by a really powerful battery. The Galaxy S6 is another competitor to Apple's iPhone 6S. Rumored to have Samsung's greatest display, the device is touted as one of the most promising devices of 2015.

LG G4

The LG G4 is expected to appear at least until summer 2015. The device is expected to have a 5.7 inch UHD display or perhaps even a 2K variant. The processor is most likely a Snapdragon 810 64-bit chip while the RAM is set at 4GB.
