LG is jumpstarting next year's CES festivities by announcing two new entries in its Gram line of computers, including a new 2-in-1 variant and a 17-inch model, the latter of which it claims is its lightest yet.

The company plans to fully show off both models at CES, but apparently, it just couldn't wait to share some preliminary details about them now.

LG Gram 17

The 17-inch model gets the "newest eight-generation Intel Core processors," LG said in an official press release. It also gets a new display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 and a ratio of 16:10. LG says this makes the 17-inch Gram ideal for image and video editing.

Plus, the laptop comes with either 256 GB or 512 GB of SSD storage. Don't worry about running out of space either — there's an extra storage slot available, so movie hoarders out there are in good hands. There's a choice between 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM, and a 72W battery keeps everything juiced up. There are three Thunderbolt 3 ports as well, which means it can reach transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps.

The main draw with LG's Gram lineup is that it's super lightweight, and the new 17-inch model continues that signature feature. The laptop is apparently just 1.34 kilos — or 2.95 pounds — which effectively makes it the lightest 17-inch laptop in the market as of writing.

LG Gram 2-In-1

The other model of the two is a 2-in-1 laptop-and-tablet hybrid with a 14-inch screen. Similar to all 2-in-1 devices, it's got a touchscreen panel, and LG has thankfully pushed the resolution to a respectable Full HD.

The display is attached to the keyboard via a 360-degree hinge, meaning it folds all the way back, which presumably is the device's tablet mode. LG also throws in a Wacom AES 2.0 Pen for good measure. The stylus features 4,096 pressure levels and tilt detection, which makes for a natural, precise drawing experience.

Like its bigger sibling, the 2-in-1 Gram also comes with eighth-generation Intel Core processors, 256 GB and 512 GB SSD models, and a choice between 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM.

LG Gram 2019 Lineup

Both devices are equipped with a fingerprint sensor and meet the U.S. Military Standard for durability.

"LG gram has evolved in accordance with what consumers have been asking for — super-light laptops that pair performance with optimum portability," said Jang Ik-hwan, head of the IT business division at LG. "With beautiful displays, compelling design and enough power for productivity and play, the 2019 LG gram models deliver convenience on a whole new scale, bringing unprecedented value to the laptop experience."

Stay tuned for more LG Gram news this January at CES 2019.
