Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice blasts through over 2 million copies sold just within 10 days after its official global release last month.

Developed by Dark Souls III game developer FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure game published by Activision. It debuted on Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows on March 22.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Fastest-Selling 2019 Title

Activision appears to be delighted with how the FromSoftware's 2019 title appeals to the gaming fans so far.

"Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has brought something very special and unique to Activision's portfolio of games. It's been an honor to work with FromSoftware to help introduce a brand-new franchise to gamers around the world," Michelle Fonseca, Activision vice president of product management and marketing, said via Siliconera.

In fact, the 2 million sales copies within 10 days is an incredible milestone for FromSoftware's latest masterpiece. It is now in the running of becoming the studio's fastest-selling title, toppling Dark Souls III at the top with 3 million sales in two months when it was launched in 2016.

Normally, Activision does not publish single-player titles. It traditionally launches multiplayer games such as the ones from Destiny and Call of Duty franchises aside from those of Blizzard Entertainment. However, the game publisher would likely make some changes as to the kind of titles it puts its money on.

'Must Play' Status

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's impressive sales in just over a week indicates its early success. Kit Guru points out that the action-adventure game is indeed receiving excellent reviews. It is also given a "Must Play" status by Metacritic, with a 90+ rating.

Fonseca did not also miss to acknowledge the fans for their warm reception of the game. The title got that much love on social media.

"The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far. The game has performed well on all platforms including PC, and we're excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike," Fonseca said.

In its opening weekend, the game's live stream hit 631 million minutes watched. In its first week, it hit more than 1.1 billion minutes watched on Twitch, making it the most viewed game on the platform at launch.
