EA confirms that Plants vs. Zombies 3 is already in the works and fans can start playing the pre-alpha version available on Google Play.

While there weren't a lot of details revealed of the upcoming version of the ultra-popular mobile game, the playable pre-alpha allows fans to get a peek at the next main Plants vs. Zombies.

New 'Plants vs. Zombies' Announced

For the past few years, the game creator and EA-acquired PopCap has been working on a new version of Plants vs. Zombies to bring to old and current players as well to a new generation of mobile users. According to a news release from EA, the next iteration of the fan-favorite is currently under early construction.

In these early stages of game construction, the team is asking for feedback from players to help fine tune the combat features. Through the pre-alpha playable, not only can fans of Plants vs. Zombies get a taste of the upcoming game but the game engineers can get a good idea of what will make the zombie-battling game even better than the previous iterations.

Plants vs. Zombies was first launched as a PC game in 2009, but it soon became available to game consoles and mobile devices. The sequel to the wildly popular game came in 2013.

PopCap has yet to reveal a worldwide release date for Plants vs. Zombies 3.

The Pre-Alpha Playable

Since the pre-alpha Plants vs. Zombies 3 is meant to help designers figure out the final game, it's expected to contain a number of bugs and other issues. EA and PopCap assures that it isn't representative of what will ultimately become available to consumers.

"Pre-Alpha is where we give the community a first look at the early development of PvZ 3 and get your feedback," PopCap explained. "Any content you see is subject to change and will not appear identical when the game launches worldwide."

The pre-alpha for Plants vs. Zombies 3 is completely free without microtransactions, but only a limited number of downloads are released in phases. Players who miss the chance to download the game can check the page on other days to see if another set of downloads have been dropped.

Due to constant changes that comes with the game's development, pre-alpha players should also expect game progress to be wiped and reset.

The Plants vs. Zombies 3 pre-alpha is available to Android users with a device with specs of a Galaxy S7 or higher. The Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher is also required to play. For now, the game isn't available to iOS devices.
