Apparently, Microsoft isn’t all about the tech, but all about the arts, too. Over a hundred interns and employees worked together to create “Microsoft the Musical,” and it is both entertaining and inspiring.

Microsoft the Musical

It sounds unreal, but it is true. Microsoft just released a mini musical featuring their interns. The video begins with a man singing about Bill Gates and telling a woman that she will be playing Bill Gates. When she says that she is not Bill gates, he responds that she could be one day, saying that “these days, Bill Gates is more of an idea.”

The video then delves into Microsoft’s products, taking pride in the good ones and poking fun at the not-so-successful ones. For instance, the people in the video sing about how Microsoft’s products are well known all around the world, but then continues “except for when we tried to make a phone.”

The video also makes several pop culture references, such as when they were singing about Powepoint and they sang “to all our competition we say thank you, next slide,” possibly pertaining to Ariana Grande’s popular song, and also when they sang a famous line from Star Wars.

‘Dedicated To Every Dreamer’

Toward the end, the musical changes its tune to encouraging people to dream and persevere, especially those who feel as though they do not belong or fit the mold, and those who are discouraged by the words of others. At the very end of the video, they dedicated the video to “every dreamer, whether you’re building a better world today or you’re studying to make a better one tomorrow.”

“Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. We hope that this speaks to every person who dreams of being part of something big—and especially to those who’ve been wrongly told they can’t be,” said Data Science intern Liam McGregor in the Director’s note.

The 10-minute video was completed by 150 interns and employees at Microsoft who volunteered their extra mornings, evenings, and even weekends for eight weeks, from creating the lyrics to shooting and finally publishing the video.
