A BMW fan in Canada tried to rebrand his 2020 Toyota Supra by replacing its logos with those of the iconic German car maker's.

Instagram user "1320video" spotted the attempted switcheroo and shared an image of it on social media. The picture shows the white Toyota sports car parked right next to a BMW 5-Series and a BMW 7-Series.

As pointed out by car enthusiast website Carscoops, the owner may have wanted to turn the Supra into a BMW by slapping on a few new badges over the Toyota logos. They may have even been able to pull off the change had it not for the vastly different badges shape between the two brands.

The BMW logos had to be placed on top of white, oval-shaped bases first before they were set over the Toyota badges. This made the attempted deception a lot more noticeable, especially to eagle-eyed fans.

Switching Toyota And BMW Badges

It's not yet clear whether the Supra owner made the Toyota-BMW switch as a genuine attempt or as a joke. However, the stunt has already drawn considerable attention online. 1320video's Instagram post currently has nearly 48,000 likes and quite a few comments from fellow users.

Several fans found the post hilarious, with some even jokingly claiming that the owner's switch attempt may have been appropriate. They said the BMW badges actually looked good on the 2020 Toyota Supra.

"Lmaooo! I'm actually happy with this!!!," one user wrote. "I would be a proud owner now."

"This dude just did the most original joke that hasn't been done before at all," another commenter said.

Meanwhile, a fellow user pointed to another possible switch, this time involving a Yamaha badge being placed on an MK4.

The Toyota-BMW Collaboration

Earlier this year, Toyota made headlines when it announced that it will debut a brand new edition of its Supra sports car after a 20-year absence in the U.S. market. It will also be a milestone of sorts for the Japanese car maker because the 2020 Toyota Supra will be co-developed alongside 2019 BMW Z4 roadster.

Regarding its collaboration with the German car maker, Toyota said that it had to team up with another car manufacturer to be able to justify the development of the new Supra. However, some car fans were quite skeptical of the partnership, believing that the resulting sports car could no longer be considered a "real" Supra.

The 2020 Toyota Supra would go on to have similar elements to the BMW Z4. Both sports cars share the same platform, powertrain, suspension, and interior components. Despite this, the new Supra is a lot cheaper compared to its BMW counterpart, costing around $15,000 less than the German branded car.
