Apple Music can now do what Android users have long been wishing it could do: pair with Chromecast. On top of that, this new update also brings the much-anticipated Dark Mode to the Android version of the app.

The app is now able to stream to Chromecast devices, so users can start their favorite playlist and cast it over to their Chromecast-enabled devices, such as TVs, smart speakers, and many others.

Apple Music For Android Gets Chromecast Support

9to5Google notes that Chromecast support has been available in the beta version of the app since late August, but only now is Apple rolling it out to all Android users. This feature is sure to be a highlight among Android users, as they'll now be able to listen to music to more devices.

Like many other apps that support Chromecast, the cast button is found on the top bar of the app alongside the search button. When music is actively playing, this button is also visible on the Now Playing screen. Just tap it to start casting. Users can control playback on their phone, of course. This also means users can technically listen to Apple Music on Google's Home smart speakers, or wherever Chromecast is available — good news for those who don't have a HomePod.

Dark Mode

As mentioned, the update also comes with Dark Mode, which is implemented into Android 10's system-wise Dark Mode setting.

Radio Stations

Apple Music for Android can now also access radio stations via TuneIn, Radio.com, and iHeartRadio. In fact, as Android Police notes, the service can access as many as 100,000 stations through these services.

Apple has been adding a number of features to its music app of late, including the aforementioned Dark Mode and real-time lyrics, which surfaces karaoke-style text while a song plays.

Service Revenue

These new additions represent Apple's increasingly aggressive attempts to buff up its services as it transitions into a company that's reliant on service subscriptions for revenue instead of product sales. Clearly, Apple is working hard to make its services more appealing, not just to Apple fans but also folks from the Android crowd. Just recently, it launched its Netflix-for-games platform Apple Arcade for iOS, and soon on macOS. This November, it'll launch Apple TV+, its answer to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
