Mario Kart Tour now has the fastest mobile game launch in Nintendo history. It easily beat the game previously holding the top spot, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

On its first week of launch alone, Mario Kart Tour has already garnered 90 million unique downloads globally, a massive jump from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’s 14.3 million downloads on its first week when it launched in October 2017.

According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, the U.S. market was a major player in Mario Kart Tour’s success, with 13.2 million of the installs coming from the United States, followed by Brazil with 10.7 million downloads, and Mexico coming in third with 5.8 million downloads.

Of the downloads, 53.5 million were on Android and 36.5 million were on iOS.

This easily makes Mario Kart Tour Nintendo’s top mobile game, with numbers that will not likely be easily beaten.

Most Profitable Nintendo Game

That said, while Mario Kart Tour brought in the most mobile downloads by a long shot, it is actually only in the third spot when it comes to revenue. For that matter, Fire Emblem Heroes is still Nintendo’s most profitable mobile game with $28.2 million in revenue, followed by Super Mario Run with $16.1 million.

Mario Kart Tour has so far brought in $12.7 million in player spending, but it is worth noting that players have to pay $4.99 per month to play the full game after the free trial period compared to Fire Emblem Heroes, which is completely free.

The United States also came first in terms of spending, with users in the United States spending almost $5.8 million or over 45 percent of the total revenues. Players in Japan spent the second-highest at $4 million, followed by players from France who spent a total of about $752,000.

These impressive numbers wrap up Mario Kart Tour’s first week, but players can expect more challenges and unlockables in the months ahead. Clearly, Mario Kart Tour is off to a great start.
