Imagine living in your favorite video game. You have the power to shoot enemies, gain extra coins, find medicine packs, and take missions to save the world. That is what Ryan Reynolds new movie looks like with the title 'Free Guy' but instead of being the main character-- like his Deadpool-- he stars as a non-player character or NPC in an action-filled video game. And it looks more interested now that 20th Century Fox released its trailer.

Meet Ryan Reynolds as 'Guy'

Ryan Reynolds is known for being the 'Deadpool.' Now, this might change as Reynolds will play a comedic and interesting role of 'Guy'-- a non-player character or NPC in a virtual video game. The movie titled 'Free Guy' showed its official trailer on Dec. 7, Saturday, and will be shown in theaters on July 3, 2020.

Free Guy is directed by Stranger Things and Night at the Museum series director Shawn Levy focuses on an open world called the 'Free City' wherein Reynolds will play as an NPC that works as a bank teller. The set-up of the movie can be compared to famous video games such as Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite, wherein lots of cars turning, guns shooting, and violence takes place. As an NPC, Reynolds' only job is to be a background character that mainly taken as a hostage, crosses streets, or gets shot by a missed gunshot.

However, all of a sudden, Guy became interested in his surroundings and asked his security guard friend named 'Buddy' played by Lil Rel Howery-- also an NPC, on whether there is more to their job than being shot at or taken hostage, as seen in the movie trailer. This made Guy realized that he can be more to their world and begin to fight a player character that he shot after severely damaging his nose.

After he successfully fought the player character, he gained access to their 'fighting world' through the glasses he took from the PC. By then, Guy already realized the violence and chaos his world is into. He, then, met a kick-ass and sexy woman PC played by Killing Eve's Jodie Comer that explained to him how the bad guys control their world and he must now help Free City to fight against them.

Interesting Cameos in 'Free City'

Other than the fact that Ryan Reynolds will be back on screen after people demand another Deadpool series, lots of fans also got totally hyped up with the said actors that will play cameo or bad guys in the film.

Taika Waititi, a comedian and Thor series director, was seen on the trailer being the 'bad guy' with his line "I'm a rule breaker, I'm a rattle chicka-chicka-chicka snaker." Channing Tatum is also reported to be part of the film, though he's not yet on the trailer.

Reynolds: "Free Guy is my Favorite Movie I've Ever Made"

Sadly, Reynolds seemed to replace Deadpool as his all-time favorite film. At a Comic-Con Experience event, he stated his excitement to show the world how hilarious Free Guy is-- claiming it as his new favorite film compared to Deadpool. Aside from being the main actor in the film, Reynolds is also one of the executive producers of Free Guy. He said that the movie aims to "bring to the world a modern day Back to the Future for modern generations."
