Star Wars Live in Fortnite!

Fortnite is teaming up with Disney once again, this time for their upcoming Star Wars movie The Rise of Skywalker. While their previous collaboration wasn't just long ago (A Stormtrooper skin became available for those who purchased Jedi: Fallen Order on the Epic Game Store or for 1,500 V-Bucks for those who didn't), it looks like more Star Wars is coming to the Fortnite universe.

A team-up unlike any other

Rather than skin or limited-time event mode, Disney is doing something really special: They're premiering an exclusive clip of the much-awaited finale of the new trilogy in the world of Fortnite itself.

Players were first made aware of the event through in-game posters. Players will have to drop into the map and make their way to Risky Reels to catch this presumably once-in-a-lifetime event. Their tweet spelled out all the details:

"Live from Risky Reels Fortnite Presents: #StarWarsTheRiseOfSkywalker exclusive scene premiere," the tweet from the official Fortnite account teases. "Watch it live on December 14. Doors open at 1:30 PM ET, show begins at 2 PM ET. You won't want to miss this."

Players can also expect a special guest appearance from the director of The Rise of Skywalker, J.J, Abrams, himself.

This isn't the first time Fortnite streamed a live event inside their game. Back in February, Marshmello held an in-game event which featured a live DJ set from the electronic artist himself. The event was broadcast to all lobbies across the world, which made it one of the first mashups between video games and live concerts.

Collaborations from everyone and anyone

The last time the two companies teamed up, the movie giant brought Thanos into the Fortnite universe. As part of Disney's promotion for Avengers: Infinity War, this collaboration allowed players to wield the Infinity Gauntlet. Doing so would transform them into Thanos, complete with overpowered abilities, which required groups of players to team up to defeat him temporarily. Once Thanos is down, the Infinity Gauntlet drops on the ground allowing anyone to pick it up and become Thanos themselves.

That wasn't the only collaboration for the Avengers, though. The follow-up film, Endgame, also saw another limited-time event. This time, players were able to wield the iconic gear of the Avengers themselves. Thor's mighty hammer, Captain America's returning shield, Hawkeye's bow, and Iron Man's fists were usable by players. The event also had hero-inspired outfits for sale, and completing some limited-time quests gave players a chance to nab a glider based on the Avenger's Quinjet.

Disney isn't the only company Epic teams up with. They're also willing to join forces with Marvel's nemesis, DC. Last September, they had an event with The Batman, as a way to celebrate the Caped Crusader's 80thanniversary.

What's more surprising is who is Epic not willing to partner up with? So far, we've seen the company partner up with the NFL, Netflix (for Stranger Things), Jordan (yes, the sneaker brand), and even feature John "Baba Yaga" Wick himself.
