When using Google Assistant or Alexa in homes, cars, offices, or even on personal phones, there will always be a time that you will say something that wasn't meant to be heard by your virtual assistant. Whether its a personal message for someone or just a random thought in your head that you spilled out loud, having a delete option for these assistants will be a huge help for everyone. Interestingly, this feature has already been built-in to your devices, just look for it and make your assistant know who the real boss is.

Steps on How to Delete Messages in Google Assistant

Amid your cooking time in the kitchen, a thought popped into your head-- things that you do not want people to know that you're thinking of-- suddenly Google Assistant or Alexa barged in the way, answering the little secretive questions in your head. Will you be able to delete it? Yes, you can! Here's how.

According to an article posted on Droid Life, there are ways or commands for you to delete the messages that you've 'accidentally' sent to your virtual assistant. For starters, a simple command of 'Hey Google, that wasn't for you' can make Google Assistant erase what he just heard you said.

As tried in The Verge, Google Assistant will instantly erase your messages once you've said that the message wasn't meant for him. In order for you to verify if your messages had been totally erased, you can check it on your Google Assistant's 'My Activity Page' to see whether the command for your device.

Aside from this, Google Support Page also explained that by using commands like 'Hey Google, delete my last conversation' or 'Hey Google, delete today's activity' can totally delete what you've just commanded in your smart device.

If you're looking for a specific message that you've just said in a day or 18 months ago, you can easily delete it in the 'Google Assistant Activity dashboard.'

How to Delete Messages on Alexa Devices?

Early this year, Amazon also launched a program that will make Alexa delete messages on its database. Specific commands like "Alexa, delete what I just said," or "Alexa, delete everything I said today" will make your Alexa shut up on what you just said. Compared to Google Assistant, you can also easily command Alexa to recite what she just heard from you through the command "Alexa, tell me what you heard."

Why Do You Want to Delete That Message?

Although the world seemed to be easily controlled by technology nowadays, it is still important for users to enjoy having decent privacy when it comes to sharing information on technology. That's why deleting messages, which are not meant to say on virtual assistants, is a must for all of its users.

Most importantly, ever since Amazon, Apple, Google, and Microsoft admitted that they are all listening to each recording, people share in their virtual assistants to help them recognize the needs of their users.

So, here's the question, what things does your virtual assistant already heard from you today? Will you delete it or not?
