The bad news is that the game's multiplayer portion has been disabled for good because of the enduring "issues with the now-defunct Games for Windows Live" platform. While this is considered as such a great loss, considering how essential the multiplayer modes were to the success of the game, it is still an enhancement on the present situation.

The Feature Gamers will Forever Miss
Since the beginning of the year, GTA 4 has not been available for purchase on Steam because of the fact that its developer no longer has keys for the Games for Windows Live. And, since the service is now no longer active, Microsoft has disapproved of providing the same service any more that has led to the current situation. However, as earlier mentioned, the game is not totally gone, and it is even returning, only with a single-player portion that the gaming enthusiasts can already start playing from Mar. 19.
If you're not fortunate enough to have purchased GTA 4's physical edition, it's either, you will have to use your physical key for the update of the Complete Edition, or, access your account for the Rockstar Social Club in place of Games for Windows Live. For those familiar with the game, this is a "throwback to the CD keys' days. Surely though, if you are a retro game enthusiast, you won't mind the feeling old and looking back to those days, right?
Expect More Losses
Like its original features, GTA 4: Complete Edition will comprise of the base game, as well as the "Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City," which includes two separate expansions: The Ballad of Gay Tony, and The Lost and the Damned. Nevertheless, while the title is set to receive all of the single-player gameplay of the GTA 4, it will still be rolled out with missing features.
