Here's another update about the deadly Coronavirus. If you are a Blood-Type A person, you have higher risks of catching this virus. And if you are a Blood-Type O, mini-congratulations to you as you are less likely to get the virus. Why is that?

COVID-19 gets easily attracted to Blood-Type A people than Type O! Here's why

Coronavirus: If You're Blood-Type A, Look Out for COVID-19! Here's Why You're More Vulnerable

As first reported via South China Morning Post, a Chinese medical study recently concluded that human blood-types might affect whether a person quickly gets the COVID-19 or not. As explained, persons with blood-type A, have higher risks of obtaining the disease from a carrier while type O typically shifts the virus and less likely encounters the disease.

This conclusion was made after researchers led by Wang Xinghuan with the Centre for Evidence-Based and Translational Medicine at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University published a study on March 11, saying that blood-types of Wuhan death victims have similarities. They found that out of the 206 deaths-- 85 had type A blood, which was 63 percent more than the 52 with type O.

Wang clarified that their study is not yet been finalized as of now, but the research might lead authorities to protect more blood-type A people since they are initially proven to be more prone with COVID-19 compared to other blood-types.

"Sars-CoV-2-infected patients with blood group A might need to receive more vigilant surveillance and aggressive treatment. Blood group O had a significantly lower risk for the infectious disease compared with non-O blood groups," written by Wang. "It might be helpful to introduce ABO blood typing in both patients and medical personnel as a routine part of the management of Sars-CoV-2 and other coronavirus infections, to help define the management options and assess risk exposure levels of people."

Blood-types vulnerability may help further studies about Coronavirus

Since Wang already clarified that their study is not yet been reviewed thoroughly, another Chinese researcher at State Key Laboratory of Experimental Haematology in Tianjin named Gao Yingdai approved what they believed in.

She even said that the study would make a major contribution to find potential carriers of the virus quickly. However, there's no need to worry."This may be helpful to medical professionals, but ordinary citizens should not take the statistics too seriously. If you are type A, there is no need to panic. It does not mean you will be infected 100%," she said. "If you are type O, it does not mean you are absolutely safe, either. You still need to wash your hands and follow the guidelines issued by authorities."In the United States, about 44% of the population is type O, while about 41 percent has to type A blood.
