World Health Organization or WHO, the health agency that primarily looks for the Coronavirus cure, has now announced the list of countries that volunteered to look for the COVID-19 cure in order to help lessen the numbers of positive victims worldwide. Interestingly, the United States of America is not part of the list of Coronavirus cure hunters. But why?

As reported via Daily Mail UK, WHO said on its press conference that the agency would create a team of Coronavirus cure hunters composing of countries around the globe. These countries will be on the frontline to test and submit reports of different effects of the reported potential cure to the human body.

This decision will be called "Solidarity Trial" that will provide researchers around the world the information and resources they need to formulate the cure against COVID-19. According to WHO, only eight countries worldwide have finally volunteered to join the said group including Argentina, Bahrain, Canada, France, Iran, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and Thailand.

"This large, international study is designed to generate the robust data we need, to show which treatments are the most effective,' Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the organization's director-general, told reporters on Wednesday.

The director-general also commended all the global countries that participated due to their financial help on the agency for the past months. This now resulted in more than $143 million that will be put on the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Interestingly, the USA, one of the most powerful countries in the world, is not included in the list of participating countries.

Why is the USA not part of the WHO task force?

According to WHO, the list of participating countries is not yet final as of today, but the agency still hopes that this announcement will make other countries like the US changed their mind and join the search for Coronavirus cure.

After all, the US became the first country that relieves symptoms of COVID-19 positive patients due to their medication using remdesivir that was one of the potential cures as of now.

Another potential COVID-19 cure is the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi's malaria drug hydroxychloroquine that is now being used to cure the positive cases temporarily. However, the company said that the studies are not yet finalized regarding this medicine and must be considered as 'off-label' cure by countries.

Though US has still no announcement whether they'll join the WHO team, Dr Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization health emergencies program, already said that if the US is part of the team; the country must respect all countries and stop finger-pointing on who to blame during this pandemic.

"This is a time for solidarity, this is a time for facts, this is a time to move forward together. There is no blame in this," Dr Ryan said.
