It's part of a tradition in some cultures to name their kids by mixing and matching names of the parents for their offspring, or maybe what's the favorite song or trend of that year; even their favorite actor gets to be part of the name choices. These stories are like that, and hopefully, it brings a smile on your face as ridiculous as the names sound.

A Woman in India Names Twins "Corona" And "Covid"

A baby boy and girl were born in India just recently amidst the lockdown; local news reported that they were given the name "Corona" and "Covid" by their parents.

The newborn twins were born at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in the twilight hours of Mar. 27. The Parents Preeti and Vinay Verma, who came from Chhattisgarh, told the Press Trust of India the names were chosen to symbolize triumph over hardship, which is pretty deep given the circumstances.

The mother, Preeti Verma, who is a resident of Puranti Basi, had this to say, "The delivery happened after facing several difficulties, and therefore my husband and I wanted to make the day memorable." She also added, "Indeed the virus is dangerous and life-threatening, but its outbreak made people focus on sanitation, hygiene and inculcate other good habits. Thus, we thought about these names."

The idea to name the children came from the hospital staff who kept calling the twins Corona and Covid. Which the parents finally thought of making it permanent.

The couple already has a two-year-old daughter in which they struggled to reach the hospital just in time for the birth because of the lockdown.

Verma said: "I suddenly experienced severe labour pain and somehow my husband arranged an ambulance operated under 102 Mahtari Express service." and she also added, "As no vehicular movement was allowed on roads due to the lockdown, we were stopped by police at various places, but they let us go after noticing my condition."

'I was wondering what would happen in the hospital as it was midnight, but fortunately, doctors and other staff were very cooperative. Our relatives who wanted to reach the hospital, could not make it as bus and train services were stopped due to the lockdown.'

The twins were delivered via cesarean delivery.
