Everything to know about Amazon's new multiplayer battle royale game 'Crucible'

At first glance, you can tell it has similarities to other battle royale games, but the huge difference with this new game is that it has PvE elements in its in-game progression system.

According to GameSpot, "In Crucible, you're not just fighting the other team, you're fighting various beasts scattered throughout the game world. Beating those PvE monsters gives you the fuel to rank up your team and make them more lethal and resilient on the battlefield, so you're better equipped to take on other players when they show up."

Here's everything you need to know about Amazon Game Studio's 'Crucible'

Crucible will have10 characters in total, each with a unique role, playstyle, and abilities. A player can have as many characters as they want on a team. However, it's not always a good idea for team composition. All characters have different weaknesses and strength. Game developers Relentless Studios is hesitant in grouping them into traditional MMO roles like support, damage, and tank.

Instead, all of these characters ave combined uses and abilities. Meaning, some of them specialize in defense, while others can drop turrets or heal. It is also worth mentioning that some are better with attack and each of them is designed to be useful in a lot of different roles. The whole gist is that the player will never feel  they are at a disadvantage for choosing the kind of character they personally would like to play.

"While there are similarities in Crucible to some battle royale games, each character comes with their own weapons and abilities, all of which are on cooldown timers (or subject to "overheating" upon use). That means you never have to hunt for ammo or weapons while you're in a battle. There are things you'll want to go after on Crucible's map, though, but more on that in a moment," GameSpot added.

Crucible is a planet. This is a special place because it contains powerful resources called Essence in the ground which can cause it all to bleed out into animals and plants and spread across the entire planet. The essence is very valuable which makes traveling around the place very profitable.

At the same time, Crucible is very dangerous, especially since the competition for collecting essence is very high. This is where the "Hunters," characters being controlled by the players, come in.

Crucible is set to launch on May 20 as a PC exclusive on Steam.
