German car manufacturer BMW recently announced that it is soon launching the BMW iX3, the first-ever car from its collection to go all-electric, the official press release indicated.

BMW stated, "The BMW Group is systematically pursuing its electrification strategy and will release the new BMW iX3 onto the market by the end of 2020. Standard production of the BMW core brand's first pure electric model will get underway at the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture (BBA) in China in late summer as planned: BBA Plant Dadong will produce the first Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) with a pure electric drive train for the global market."

This all-electric vehicle is part of the significant change transitioning the industry from combustion engine production to battery-powered cars. In this way, it is more sustainable.

Different from previous makes

Unlike the older combustion engine cars that make use of various engines, the BMW iX3 is going to use the "standardized electric drivetrain" for global demand. This is a significant jump since it will seek to reduce production costs, getting the finished output to the market.

Arno Keller, the head of product development, noted, "This is the first time we have completed the entire homologation process for a fully electric model in China and Europe at the same time. The staff on our testing team mastered this unique challenge with tremendous dedication and efficiency."

Since 2018, the BMW iXW has been the subject of much conversation, unveiled as a concept car at the same time. The Bavarian automobile company also detailed the car's drivetrain, which will have approximately "273 miles (440 km) of range, a 74 kWh battery, with a rear axle mounted motor at 282 horsepower."

Features

Meanwhile, the batteries will be kept under the floor, which means that this electric car is more spacious than its combustion engine version.

It will mimic the way the traditional X3 looks, except for additional aerodynamic form that will work to enhance the range through smoothening the airflow. Consumers will compare this to the Tesla Model Y, a vehicle that resembles the tiny SUVs. It will compete with the iX3 in the game of "electric car Top Trumps," the reports said.

Big changes

However, more than being an electric vehicle, this car will demonstrate the big changes in the automotive industry, how it adapts to this change, and how the drivers are going to welcome this change. It is for greener transport and sustainability.

The same thing happened with Volkswagen's e-Gold when the user experience was affected since the car they are using is electric. The elements of comfort and familiarity are also going to alter.

It is not, nonetheless, the first time since the car brand moved toward this venture. Earlier this year, it was reported that the M5 will have 1,000 horsepower and will also be electric. These types of cars are very revolutionary because of their ability to provide a very sustainable and eco-friendly way when driving them on the road. Other car manufacturers also have these kinds of automobiles.
